Per a decision by the Hawaii Board of Dentistry on 5/18/21, ALL virtual CE will be accepted for the 2020-2021 licensure period due to the COVID pandemic and live CE restrictions.

As data emerges about the oral health crisis in our nation and need for improved access to dental care, it has become evident that the current dental delivery system may not be meeting the needs of the public. This course will look at the emergence of dental therapy in the United States and provide an in-depth discussion on what dental therapy is and the education, scope of practice and licensure. This model of care is also considered as an advancement in the career ladder for the dental hygienist.

Dental Hygienists are faced with ethical decisions every day that involve “doing what is right.” We make decisions that involve clinical findings, accurate assessments, treatment planning, and product recommendation, not to mention patient and staff interactions. This course will explore real life ethical dilemmas hygienists may face and recommend activities that enhance the public’s trust of our profession.
